La Jeringa
Bayahibe, Dominican Republic
La Jeringa “The Syringe” is located just outside of the small town of Bayahibe in the Padre Nuestro Park, once the location of a water pumping station, it is now abandoned.
La Jeringa is a side mount cave with crystal clear water, white walls and
passages that include numerous restrictions. The cave has no decorations and is made up of eroded and sharp “Velcro rock”, anything not tucked away and streamlined will get caught on the rock at some point during the dive.
Max depth in La Jeringa is 49ʼ (15 meters), one of the tunnels ends in a
small air dome and there are many restrictions, some of which are no-mount. What small water flow La Jeringa does have is towards the Northwest.
La Jeringa was first dove in February 2009
by Cristian Pittaro and Dave Pratt.
