El Asfalto

Pedernales, Dominican Republic

This cave is in Pedernales, a remote desert region in the southwestern Dominican Republic a few kilometers from the Haitian border.

Diving El Asfalto makes it possible to see every available Limestone color, texture and design available on earth today all conveniently packaged into the very same cave.

Access is a through an easy dry cave crawl and the entrance pool is fairly large and accommodating. The entire cave is very shallow with and average depth of five to six meters allowing for very long dives.

In this desert area everything cuts, stings or bites and is also looking for water which is you guessed it…is in the caves. Be extra careful of wild bees in all cave entrances, do not provoke them or else…
